TO BENEFIT COLORSCAPE CHENANGO ARTS FESTIVAL

As a refresher for those artists who have participated in the past and for new artists thinking of participating, we are a group of area artists from Chenango, Madison, Otsego, Oneida and Delaware counties, who like to paint outdoors, painting onsite landscapes.

We organize a reception and art auction using several pieces of our completed works. A percentage of the sales benefits the Colorscape Chenango Arts Festival. For the last several years we have continued to grow in the number of artists participating. We have established a chapter called Colorscape Chenango Plein Air Painters of Central New York, a member of the Plein Air Painters of New York State, a division of the National Plein Aire Painters.

The introductory session took place July 8 to finalize plans, get acquainted and do some painting. The schedule of painting sites for the remainder of the sessions follows. Participating artists will meet at 10:00 a.m. at the various locations and bring your own art supplies, equipment, lunch, drinks, etc. as needed. While artists can stay as long as they wish to at the sites, organizers will be available from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. We understand that not everyone will be able to attend every session. While part of the philosophy of plein aire groups is to build a camaraderie as we paint together, we know that of few of you will choose your own sites to paint, and that is fine with us.

A $15 commitment fee is required, which will be refunded to you when you contribute artwork to the reception & auction to be held October 14th at Golden Artist Colors. Makes checks out to Colorscape Chenango Arts Festival (sorry no credit cards). If you join after the initial session, bring a check with you or mail one to Charlene Walling, 858 County Road 19, Norwich, New York 13815.

We will follow the same procedure as last year, with the artist receiving 50% of the proceeds from the sale of the artwork and Colorscape Chenango receiving the other 50%.

July 15: The Flower Farm / 173 Spurr Street / New Berlin
Go North of Village of New Berlin on Route 8. Left on County Road 25 (Road to Columbus), Right on Davis Road, Left on Spurr Street. Flower Farm is on the left just up the road.

July 22: The Flower Farm / 173 Spurr Street / New Berlin - Session 2

August 5: Rexford Falls or Rogers Conservation Center / Sherburne
Rexford Falls is off Route 80 just east of the Village of Sherburne.

August 7: (Saturday) “Art by the Lake” / Fenimore House in Cooperstown
Hosted by Lisa Iannello,  Fenimore House in Cooperstown, “Art by the Lake”, As long as we paint on site, she can get a waiver for the entrance fee but you will need to contact her at 607-547-1536 or by email: l.iannello@nysha.org prior to the event. The address for the Fenimore House Museum is 5798 State Highway 80.

August 12: Elm Street (end of road), Gerry Lake, Oxford
Take Route 12 South from Norwich towards the Village of Oxford. Just before Village take left on Route 220. Route 220 turns into County Road 35 after the intersection of County Road 32. Follow 35 for a short ways and turn left on New Virginia Road. Pass Pine Rd (St) and look for Elm Street. Turn left onto Elm Street, which is narrow, and may be dirt. Go to end. Sharon MacArthur cottage is last place on left on the water. Park in driveway.

August 19: Elm Street (end of road), Gerry Lake, Oxford
See above directions.

August 26: The Diter Farm / Gilbertsville
In Gilbertsville, take Commercial Street off Route 51. Major's Inn is on the corner. Turn right at the monument which is Spring Street. Follow detour as bridge to Butternut Creek is closed. The detour will eventually take you to River Road. Take a left on River Road. Travel a mile or so and turn right on Lilley Hill Road. Travel 1 mile on Lilley Hill Road. There is a long driveway marked by a Maple Syrup sign. Take the driveway an follow it to the top. Park on the side of the driveway or in the turnaround. The farm has hilltop views and an assortment of visual treats.

September 2: The Diter Farm / Gilbertsville - Session 2

September 9: Hamilton, Americana Village or Lake Moraine sites
In Hamilton, we will meet at the bandstand in the Village Park to determine the painting locations.

September 16: Hamilton, Americana Village or Lake Moraine sites - Session 2

September 23: The Finnegan's Bailey Island on the Unadilla River
We will meet at Peggy Finnegan's home at 98 North Main in the Village of New Berlin and then carpool to her property on the Unadilla River. This is on the River Road in Pittsfied between New Berlin and South New Berlin.

September 30: The Finnegan's Bailey Island on the Unadilla River - Session 2

October 7: D-DAY - All deliveries of artwork must be made by this date. All work MUST be framed, labeled and priced, and delivered to Golden Artist Colors, 188 Bell Road, Columbus, NY or to contact Charlene Walling at 607-334-2923 or by Email at tcwall@frontiernet.net for other delivery locations. Deliveries to the Goldens factory should be made between between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon.

If there is still a delivery problem, Charlene can take completed artwork in advance and store it at her Open Studio site at the former Harrington's Greenhouse, 41 Cortland Avenue, Norwich, NY on Tuesdays between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Artwork delivered late will not be accepted.

October 14th: A Reception and Silent Auction will be held at Golden Artist Colors
Mastercard, Visa, Discover and Debit Cards will be accepted for purchasing artwork at the auction.

We hope to hear from all of you, and hope that MANY of you will be able to participate this year. Those of us who did participate in 2009 thoroughly enjoyed ourselve's and appreciated the gracious evening reception that Mark Golden and Golden Artist Colors helped make possible.
